At San Polo, our Rosso is obtained from the same grapes selected for Brunello after spending at least twelve months in French barriques. In fact, at the end of the first year of ageing there is an extensive tasting in the cellar of the vintage in process. At this time, the youngest and freshest wine is selected for Rosso di Montalcino leaving the wine most suitable for Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. to be aged for another two years. In this way, we obtain a product which combines evident notes of freshness with an important structure which is ready to drink and of high quality. Average annual production of about 15,000 bottles of 0.75 liters.
